I found my way to Sultana and JGS after seeing Single & Placing's finish of Seniorita. I was shocked that a DP could look so good and lifelike. I totally loved the composition and contrasting palette of this particular image, and I loved the stage lighting that Henry Clive captured so well, so I went big. I'm not a big fan of color-blocking, but all in all this didn't take too long to complete and the finish is great! Worth every drill placed! The drape of the gown and all the other detail really comes through, and the charting of the AB in the background was perfect. The domes really look moonlit with the ABs.
One thing, though, is that I finally, really learned what the pixel reference disclaimer means with this image! You can see that all the light teal light cast on the subject from outside got edited out. I concede that it could be hard to make that look natural and blended on her skin, especially at lower-resolution renderings, but that really drew me in believe it or not. Anyway, no one else who sees the DP will be the wiser. I also didn't realize till later that the full image here is itself a crop. But, again, no one else will ever know the difference. I mean, it looks too good as is anyway!
This is my second JGS finish and I'm working on a (relatively) smaller canvas now and I'll be working on more after that one. I've done a couple kits from another certain popular company in between, and JGS is really the shop for me. The detail you get from hybrid rendering can't be beat, the hybrid-rendered kits are just more fun to do, and I love all the old masters' pieces to choose from. I only wish I had the time to do 100% hugest-size kits. :)
I've only just started working on this canvas, it's my first from Jaded Gem Shop and it definitely won't be my last. I am absolutely stunned at how it's turning out so far. It's very confetti heavy so it'll take me a while to finish but I am loving the experience.
Ahhh! This was the cutest kit ever and the pixel charting was wonderful!! I did add some bling to her jewelry, but this was just so fun to work on!
This one was my first JGS purchase and I was more than pleased. There was barely any trash, the drills were super shiny, the drill field was clear and sticky, drill fit was tight. I don't think I have a bad thing to say really. This whole experience from start to finish was lovely. I look forward to getting more from this shop in the future.
